The John Golden Theatre, originally opened as the Theatre Masque in 1927, is an intimate 805-seat Broadway venue designed by Herbert J. Krapp in Spanish architectural style. Now operated by the Shubert Organization, this Manhattan landmark offers a classic theatrical experience with excellent sightlines throughout its compact auditorium, making it a favored destination for serious dramas and character-driven productions.
Acoustics, seating, and what to expect
The intimate auditorium provides impressive acoustics throughout, with particularly strong sound quality in the center orchestra sections. The theatre's compact design ensures no seat is significantly distant from the stage.
Front rows of the Center Orchestra (rows A-D) offer the most intimate experience with excellent proximity to the stage. Rows A and B in the Front Mezzanine provide excellent overhead views. Aisle seats are recommended for additional legroom, particularly for taller patrons.
