Designed by Henry B. Herts and opened in 1913, the Longacre Theatre takes its name from the old Longacre Square — the original designation of Times Square. Its French neoclassical facade and intimate auditorium have made it a favored home for plays and smaller-scale musicals for over a century. The house's relatively modest size creates an immediacy that larger Broadway theaters cannot replicate. The Longacre has quietly hosted some of the most acclaimed dramatic productions in recent Broadway history.
