Co-founded by George Balanchine and Lincoln Kirstein, New York City Ballet redefined American dance with a neoclassical style that stripped away narrative excess to reveal the pure architecture of movement set to music. Resident at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, NYCB maintains the largest active repertoire of any ballet company in the world, anchored by Balanchine's masterworks alongside pieces by Jerome Robbins and a growing roster of contemporary choreographers. Its annual Nutcracker remains one of New York's defining holiday traditions, beloved across generations.

Acoustics, seating, and what to expect
The David H. Koch Theater underwent major acoustic renovations in 2008 with JaffeHolden consultants, significantly improving sound projection and footfall clarity. The venue now delivers well-balanced orchestral sound and clear audibility of dancers' movements without electronic amplification.
Orchestra rows F through M offer the ideal balance of proximity and full choreographic perspective. Front mezzanine sections also provide excellent sightlines; avoid extreme side sections for optimal sound and view.
