A Moorish Revival landmark on West 55th Street, New York City Center has served as a vital home for dance and musical theatre since the 1940s, when it housed the nascent New York City Ballet and New York City Opera before their move to Lincoln Center. Today, City Center is best known for its acclaimed Encores! series, which resurrects neglected musicals in semi-staged concert productions that frequently transfer to Broadway.
