The principal opera company of Australia and one of the busiest in the world, Opera Australia performs beneath the iconic sails of the Sydney Opera House and at Arts Centre Melbourne, mounting an extraordinary number of productions each season. The company is known for both lavish traditional stagings and bold contemporary reimaginings, attracting leading international singers alongside a deep roster of Australian talent. Its annual Opera on Sydney Harbour — spectacular open-air productions staged on a floating platform with the harbour as backdrop — has become one of the most visually extraordinary operatic events on the planet.
