Westport Country Playhouse

Westport Country Playhouse has been a jewel of Connecticut theater since 1931, when it was converted from a nineteenth-century tanning barn into a summer stage. Over the decades, it has hosted an extraordinary roster of talent, from Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward — who served as artistic director — to countless Broadway-bound productions. A major renovation in the early 2000s transformed it into a year-round professional theater while preserving its rustic New England charm.
