Synopsis
Anne Boleyn, Queen of England, senses that King Henry VIII's affections have turned to her lady-in-waiting Jane Seymour. When the King orchestrates the return of Anne's former lover Lord Percy to court and entraps them together, he secures the evidence he needs to condemn his queen. Donizetti's bel canto tragedy follows Anne's agonizing fall from power, culminating in a devastating mad scene as she awaits execution in the Tower of London.
