
The peasant girl Giselle falls in love with Albrecht, a nobleman disguised as a villager. When his true identity and existing betrothal are revealed, Giselle goes mad with grief and dies. In the moonlit forest, she rises as a Wili, a ghost of a maiden betrayed, but her enduring love protects Albrecht from being danced to death by the vengeful Queen of the Wilis, Myrtha.
