The Figaro of Seville has settled into service at the Spanish court, where he is betrothed to Susanna, a chambermaid to the Countess. Yet the licentious Count Almaviva harbors designs on Susanna himself, determined to exercise his ancient droit du seigneur. As the wedding day approaches, schemes multiply and identities blur. Figaro and Susanna conspire with the Countess and her page Cherubino to expose the Count's infidelity and protect their union. Through a cascade of misunderstandings, disguises, and midnight garden intrigues, the truth emerges: the Count's wandering affections threaten not only his marriage but the social order itself. By night's end, forgiveness and reconciliation prevail, though not before Mozart's brilliant music has illuminated the follies of desire, class, and human weakness with wit, tenderness, and profound humanity.
