Orphée et Eurydice recounts the timeless myth of love transcending death. The musician Orphée, devastated by the sudden death of his beloved Eurydice from a serpent's bite, descends into the Underworld armed only with his lyre and the power of his song. Moved by his profound grief and extraordinary artistry, the gods grant him an unprecedented opportunity: he may retrieve Eurydice and return to the world of the living, provided he does not look back at her during their ascent. As Orphée leads Eurydice from the darkness toward daylight, doubt and fear threaten to overwhelm him. The tension between trust and despair, between faith in divine mercy and human weakness, builds inexorably. This opera explores the redemptive and destructive power of love, the limits of human will, and the price of second chances.
