The Rite of Spring unfolds across two parts depicting the pagan rituals of ancient Russia during the spring season. The first part, "Adoration of the Earth," presents the awakening of nature through tribal ceremonies, games, and the invocation of fertility. The second part, "The Sacrifice," culminates in the selection and ritualistic death of a chosen maiden who dances herself to exhaustion as an offering to ensure the earth's renewal. Uwe Scholz's choreographic interpretation brings his distinctive contemporary sensibility to Stravinsky's revolutionary score, reimagining the primal narrative through modern movement vocabulary while honoring the work's visceral power and spiritual intensity.
