Synopsis
The courtesan Stephana falls genuinely in love with the young officer Vassili, who does not know about her past life as the mistress of the powerful Prince Alexis. When Vassili discovers the truth and confronts the Prince, he is sentenced to exile in Siberia. Stephana follows him to the prison camp, and when Vassili is shot during an escape attempt, she throws herself on the border fence to die beside him.
